Recertification Programmes
The Healthcare Services Act (HCSA) requires practicing paramedics and EMTs to undergo recertification every two years through specific courses to maintain professional competency.

The Healthcare Services Act (HCSA) requires paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to undergo recertification every two years to maintain their professional competency:
Paramedics: Paramedics must complete the Joint ITE-UPEC Certificate in Pre-hospital Emergency Care course.
EMTs: EMTs must complete the EMT Recertification Programme.

Joint ITE-UPEC Certificate in Pre-hospital Emergency Care Course
The Joint ITE-UPEC Certificate in Pre-hospital Emergency Care Course certifies local and foreign paramedics, who are strongly encouraged to complete their recertification at least 6 months before their current certification expires.
Course Information
The course begins with a five-week self-directed learning phase, during which participants will complete online quizzes and participate in discussion forums. This is followed by a 3-day face-to-face (F2F) session at ITE College East.
The third day of the F2F session includes both theory and practical assessments.
Participants must attend all F2F sessions and pass both assessments to complete the course.
A course briefing will be conducted before the start, during which textbooks will be issued to participants for the duration of the course.
Course Eligibility
To be eligible for the course, applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Possess a Paramedic Level III certificate (SAF/SCDF)
Hold a Higher Nitec in Paramedic & Emergency Care
Have a Diploma in Paramedicine (NYP)
Provide a letter from UPEC
Note: This course is applicable only to paramedics.

EMT Recertification Programme
EMTs are strongly encouraged to complete their recertification 3 to 6 months before the expiration of their current certification.
The recertification course will last for 2 days, with the schedule as follows:
2 Days (8.30 am to 4.30 pm)
