EMT Recertification Appeal
All practising EMTs must maintain a valid EMT certification to perform pre-hospital emergency duties and must stay current with medical standards, protocols, and skills. Currently, appeals for EMT recertification due to lapsed certifications are handled on a case-by-case basis by UPEC’s PEC Training Review Panel.
An EMT certification is considered lapsed when the EMT fails to renew by the expiry date and/or complete the EMT Recertification Programme within the validity period.
Recertification Appeal Categories:
0-12 months lapsed: Eligible for direct registration with SingHealth Institute of Advanced Nursing (IAN).
12-24 months lapsed: Requires appeal to UPEC for PEC Training Review Panel assessment.
Over 24 months lapsed: Not eligible for recertification or appeal; must complete the full EMT Course.
